His entire working career has been with Sunoco where he sailed for a very short time, then went to their Marcus Hook refinery when he turned 18. He currently holds the job of Chief Board Operator on a reforming and jet fuel plant. He met his wife when they were both Sea Scouts as teenagers; they have been married 35 years.

His work as a chief in an oil refinery makes him familiar with issues that involve mechanical, electrical, computer, fluids, legal, safety, and environmental, and sometimes just different or conflicting personalities.

Howard is open to doing any task. He enjoys varied assignments and commits himself to the total success of the team – and Project Liberty Ship. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2010.
